The scent of a woman......

Some of my favorite and most vivid memories are of a wonderful woman who I was so lucky to have as my grandmother, and I am frequently reminded of her by certain scents. She wore a classic perfume, and only one – Joy. Just a mere whiff of it, or any of the notes that compose it, bring memories of her and the feelings of that wonderful time of my childhood and youth. Oddly, there is a strange combination of scents that also remind me of time I spent with her and my grandfather, the smell of their kitchen in the morning. It’s the combination of Cascade dishwasher soap, fresh grapefruit, slightly burnt toast, and strong fresh coffee. Strange but true, this puts me into a state of bliss.
